Where to Find Vegan Conchas in Los Angeles

A concha is a traditional Mexican pan dulce or “sweet bread roll” with a crunchy topping stamped on to create a shell-like design. They are a nostalgic and fundamental part of Mexican culture that taste great solo, dipped in coffee, or as a dessert with your favorite toppings, like whipped cream and berries! Traditionally, conchas include butter and eggs, so they can be tough to find vegan, but that’s where we come into play! We’ve combed through LA to find the best places to get vegan conchas. Here they are!

Veggie Y Qué

Whittier

This freshly-opened vegan deli graces us with tacos, breakfast sandwiches, chilaquiles, and conchas galore! Stop by Thursday through Sunday and pick up some vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry conchas provided by Panaderia MX. For something less crunchy but just as sweet, get their empanada de calabaza (a.k.a. pumpkin empanadas!) Support this treasure and treat your tastebuds!

Vegan By Victoria’s

Santa Ana

Vegan by Victoria’s dominates the pan dulce playing field with conchas of all categories! They’ve got chocolate and vanilla, but the stand-out is their Como La Flor, a Selena-inspired bright purple concha dusted in edible glitter! This flavor is made weekly, so call and make sure they still have it before you make a trip! Pro tip: Saturdays are the best days to get this one! Check out their other traditional eats like borregos, elotes, galletas, puerquitos—we could continue to list their goodies, but you’ll have to check them out for yourself!

Sugar Taco

Melrose

Get your fix of tacos and treats all in one stop! Sugar Taco’s creative and colorful brand is displayed in their decor and Instagram feed, all the way through to their menu. Complete any eco-friendly entree here with one of their signature flavored conchas! Ask for it deep-fried, because why not!

Drink Leche

Pop-ups and Select Stores

If you like your conchas dipped in chocolate or leche, this company has the dunkable duo for you! They offer all vegan, organic, and zero waste cold brew, tea, milk teas, sweets, and more. Plunge their brightly colored concha cupcake or gluten-free mini concha into your beverage of choice! Check them out at their Verano Vegano event in Downey, monthly Long Beach pop-ups, or online for special orders!

Noes Vegan Panaderia

Pop-up

Are you craving a more substantial portion than that of a typical concha? The La Concha from this vegan pan dulce pop-up is equivalent to the dough of 12 conchas filled with chocolate. Made to order, it’s perfect for parties, holidays, or a few hungry humans! If you’re not prepared to conquer the La Concha, they also have regular conchas with chocolate or activated turmeric topping!

Panaderia Cuscatleca

Pico-Union & Echo Park

This vegan-friendly panaderia offers vanilla conchas to stock up on! Not only that, but they also carry mini vegan apple pies, cinnamon rolls, chocolate cake, and other treats. Stop by and see what’s there! By the way, it’s totally normal if you’re drooling at this point!

Delicias Bakery And Some

Highland Park

Another vital sweet to the Hispanic community is churros. But how does an indecisive vegan choose between a churro or a concha? You don’t! This vegan-friendly spot makes your decision a bit easier with their Vegan Churro Concha, a lovechild of the two fan favorites! Now to decide how many to get … If you’re craving a more classic flavor, they’ve got vegan vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry conchas as well!
